On July 22, 2017, many raft race lovers have decided they will drift down the creek on their own as a show of interest in bring back the Raft Race again for the second year. This marks the 32nd year since the last official Great Cypress Creek Raft Race. 2017 is not an official organized association event and the Cypress Creek is open to the public as always. The historic "put in" location is on Cox Creek Parkway at the canoe ramp. We will provide as much info as possible here to help make that fun day just that, a fun day with friends and family. The turnout will judge the level of interest for next years possible return of the official raft race. Many folks are building rafts already and others are starting soon. Safety comes first, so everyone be safe as you are on your own for this community fun day. People we take their rafts or canoes out wherever they want at the end. Many will go all the way to Wildwood Park, which is approx. 5 miles from the original starting point. Remember, parking is limited at the put in and at Wildwood Park, so plan accordingly. DO NOT let your rafts and trash float down stream.
